Bamboo-Leaf-Green is a kind of Green tea,a kind of alcoholic drink,a species of snake are all orininal from China.I would like to reveal the connections and commons of poisonous,addicted and nourish in these 3 images. The grapic in each item actually is the enssential element shapes of venom of bamboo snake,bubbles of bamboo alcoholic drink and the leaves of bamboo tea.They are all liquid and looks the same with the similiar names but with 3 diffrent effects to human beings.So maybe in some cases,the effects could be transfer to each other if we do not threat them properly.
When I sketch this series of work, I made several tests in colors and metirials.
The last image shows the 3 background colors of each painting which occupies the proportion of 2:1,1:1,1:2 in pure brown and pure green. While in Chinese traditional color theory ,they are not simply in color green or brown, this is called the color the Tea-Gregs.It is been recognized as a advanced corlor which popular in scholar and elit class in acient times in China. I will make more explanations of this context afterwards.
The images of sketch canvas is a test of mixing pastels and oils in wet , dry or half dry conditions.Also the tests of diifrent colors of element leaves shape.
This is the orininal shape of my paintings,and the color is exactly the Tea-Dregs just as the dust of tea leaves been drowning the spoiled water for hundreds of times.
This kind of ceramic is been called CiZhou Yao.This obeject is a private collection from one of my friends ,while CiZhou Yao Pillow in Song Dynasty is rarely nowadays.
CiZhou Yao is mainly made up of plates, bowls, cans and bottles, as well as porcelain pillows and toys; there are two kinds of fetal materials: one is firmer and grayish white, one is coarse and reddish brown; the glaze is white and slightly yellowish.
There are black and brown patterns on the inside, most of which do not hang glaze; the method of drawing patterns is painted flowers, painted flowers, tick flowers and pearls, etc. The pattern is complex, with curly leaves, tangled peony, water ripples, flowers There are many patterns such as poultry fish, smooth lines and free and easy composition. It is a masterpiece of folk porcelain in northern China.
I also evoke by a famous piece of experimental music "Bamboo-Leaf-Green",it tells a story that a famous musician refusing to be commercial,but the businessmen from album recording conpanies know his hobby of drinking Bamboo wine,so they always carry on bamboo wine as gifts for the musician and trying to persuade him to attend the commercial musical performances.
This song creat a atmosphere of getting drunk by Bamboo wine.
These two sketches below are my directly reflrctions after appreciate this song, and it becames the earliest motivation of painting.
